It's well after two AM when Taub shows up to relieve her of her watch over their dying patient. With nothing else they could do, the team had taken to keeping the man company in shifts, watching over him and keeping the man comfortable until the inevitable happens. Remy shakes her head as she steps out into the cool, evening air, shaking her head to dispel the last lingering thoughts about the dying man as he heads for her car which stands all alone on the far side of the lot.
The drive home is inconsequential, but the young doctor blares her radio in order to keep herself awake, and all too soon, she's pulling into a familiar driveway, and she can't help but smile at the sight of the darkened house. After Coreen had moved in with her, the small woman had insisted the two of them find a bigger place for them to live, stating that her old bachelor pad was getting increasingly too small for their little family. So they moved.
Remy fumbles a little with the keys and lock, but still manages to enter her home quietly, slipping off her shoes and coat before padding silently though the sleeping house and towards her bedroom. But before she gets there, there's two stops she has to make.
The first, is a nursery, decked out in soft, pastel-y colours, and Remy enters quietly, padding her way over to the crib standing in the centre of the room and looking down at her daughter inside. Little Amelia Fae was a very pleasant surprise, the outcome of Cubefall the previous year. She still remembers the sly look on Coreen's face as she told her what form she wanted her to take, and the look of complete awe and joy when informed of the results nearly two months later.
Remy's next stop it yet another bedroom, though this one is different, belonging to the only male in the household. Pushing open the bedroom door, she can't help but grin as she hears a faint gasp, and just manages to catch sight of a flashlight turning off. Softly, she tells him to get some sleep, he had school in the morning whether he was up all night or not. It takes a moment for Evan to respond, but he does, telling her he'll go to bed, and wishes her goodnight, informing her that he loves her. She responds in kind, and shuts the door softly behind herself. Evan may not be hers biologically, but she loves him all the same as if he was.
Her last and final stop of the night, is her own bedroom, and as she steps into the dark, she begins sliding out of her clothes quietly, not wanting to wake her lover by turning on a light and rooting through the drawers for pyjamas. And so, she slides beneath the blankets, clad just in a pair of panties, and curls up around the sleeping Coreen, smiling to herself and wrapping her arms around the other woman as she snuggles close.
All was right with the world.
