Barcelona - Post Two

It's a good thing the Doctor shuffled Remy off to bed when he did, because she's dead to the world and still fully dressed before her head hits the pillow.

When morning rolls around, the young doctor is notably invigorated, practically bouncing out of her room after a wardrobe change and making a beeline for the TARDIS's kitchen. Soon after, she's puttering around the room happily and humming along to the music she's managed to get going.

The Doctor stares at her for a long drawn-out moment, trying to ascertain if she's serious. His brow furrows and lips turn down as he slowly realizes that she is.

"You honestly want to do that?"

[numbered_doctor]

She arches a brow, her grin fading some.

"Why not? It sounds like fun. Have you never had a go at it?"

[just_the_doctor]

"It's... not my usual choice of activity, no." He watches her expression change and feels a twinge of regret at having so obviously rained on her parade. "But if you want to give it a shot, I will happily cheer you on," he adds quickly.

"Going to provide support from the sidelines are you? I think I can live with that."

[just_the_doctor]

He grins again. "Glad to hear it. Meet in the console room in thirty minutes? We'll catch a jump shuttle."

[numbered_doctor]

"Sounds good," she chirps in reply, then gestures at herself. "This isn't exactly something one wears to jump off a cliff, is it?"

[just_the_doctor]

"Not quite," he answers with a chuckle. "There's bound to be some swimsuits in the wardrobe room -- goodness knows there's some of just about everything else."

[numbered_doctor]

The last of her breakfast disappears with the rest of her tea and she stands, gathering up her plate and mug.

"I'll have a poke around then, see what I can find."

[just_the_doctor]

The Doctor watches her go, then picks a little more at the food she'd prepared for him -- which is actually quite good -- before slipping back down to the medical bay to check on the status of his scan. Still running; will probably take hours to complete. No harm, then, in just leaving it to run while they nip off to the lake.

A few more minutes later, and he strolls on up to the console room to wait for Thirteen to finish getting ready.

Remy takes a little while longer to pick out a swimsuit than she initially thought it would, the vast amount of clothing scattered seemingly randomly around the room takes some time to make sense of.

Eventually, she emerges again, in a pair of board shorts, and a teeshirt thrown over the bikini top.

"You really need to hire a maid or something for back there," she remarks dryly as she enters the console room.

"I had someone in once. She took one look, screamed, and ran out." The Doctor frowns. "I can't imagine why."

[numbered_doctor]

Thirteen just chuckles, rolling her eyes at him.

"Sure, you don't."

[just_the_doctor]

"So, shall we go?" he asks, offering her an arm.

[numbered_doctor]

Grinning, she makes her way over to him, looping her arm in his.

"Well, if you're not going to throw yourself off of a perfectly good cliff, you at least going to come swimming?"

[just_the_doctor]

He wrinkles his nose a bit. "Water and I have an agreement not to bother one enough. I don't go into large quantities of it, and large quantities of it don't go into me."

[numbered_doctor]

She's still grinning as she pats his arm gently.

"That's alright, Doctor. Lots of people don't know how to swim."

[just_the_doctor]

"I didn't say that. Who said that? I know how to swim. And in an emergency, I can swim quite adequately. I simply don't see it as a particularly enjoyable pastime is all."

[numbered_doctor]

Chuckling, she allows herself to be led out of the TARDIS.

"Don't worry, I won't tell a soul, Doctor."

[just_the_doctor]

"Right," he nods. "Because there's nothing to tell."

It's a short walk to the jump shuttle port, and only a ten-minute flight to the cliffs.

"Originally, the divers would have to climb seven hundred and seventy-four hand-carved steps to get to the top," the Doctor explains en route. "Now that Barcelona is such a planetary hub of activity, some enterprising soul installed a high-speed elevator."

"Smart idea," she responds, looking around their vantage point. "It'd definitely increase the amount of jumpers."

[just_the_doctor]

"And it has significantly decreased the number of them that slip on the way up. The peculiarities of the geography here are such that the low-gee properties are only evidenced on the lake side of the cliffs. Taking a fall from the other side is considerably more dangerous."

The shuttle lands near the observation deck. The deck is built out over part of the lake and fitted with magnifying viewers to follow the divers all the way from the top of the nearly 80 meter drop.

She winces sympathetically at the past diver's plight. "Yeah, that would be problematic, wouldn't it? Adds a whole new bit of danger to the experience. Sure, you'll survive the fall from the top of the cliffs, but getting there is another matter all together."

Looking around, she watches one person's dive on the screen. She's grinning, buzzing with energy and damn near bouncing in place as she looks around at the other gathered jumpers.

[just_the_doctor]

Her grin is infectious, and soon enough, the Doctor is wearing one as well. He nudges her toward the elevator. "Go on. I'll be right here when you're done."

Thirteen nods and she pulls her t-shirt off to join the other swimsuit clad jumpers.

"See you in a few, then. Hold this for me?"

[just_the_doctor]

The Doctor blinks in surprise as he sees what Thirteen is wearing under the t-shirt. He hadn't been aware that the TARDIS wardrobe contained clothing that small. Not that she doesn't wear it extremely well.

He composes himself quickly, though. "Certainly," he replies, draping the shirt over his arm.
