Not Exactly A Good Day

It's been a while since she's been in the Bar. Between very long hours at work, and House running the team ragged, she hasn't even had time to think about Milliways, let alone come here.

Today is different, though. Milliways has usually refrained from pulling the young doctor in, since she had found a stable door, but now, she's stumbling in, almost unseeingly, and it takes her a moment to realize where she is.

Remy's certainly seen better days, hair a mess, red-rimmed eyes, and, oh yes, did we mention the blood? Though that's not exactly on her mind at the moment, as she's just noticed her lack of door and has turned to pound on the bare expanse of wall, leaving bloody prints as she hurls insults and generally screams at it.

"Fair enough," she says with a nod. "Wouldn't want to get stuck in god knows where, and can't get out."

Beat.

"Though I'd need food."

Rachel flashed a grin over her shoulder, briefly visible in the deepening shadows in the rafters. "Ask the wait rats. Some of them are very adventurous and one might be willing to come with you with some provisions in return for a fun time and a share in treasures you find."

She chuckles.

"You think one would actually go for it? You're the one with the good rep with the Bar."

"Most of the rats actually had to get used to me. It took Ari's favorite to talk them all around. Those that come near me are the adventurous ones." Rachel chuckled. She'd had one that actually chased her through one of her explorations to deliver the broth Bar had insisted on!

"But talk to them, spread the word, sooner or later those interested will come forth."

Remy stretches out her muscles, relaxing a little further against the worn, rafters. Hey, bouncing from all-consuming grief and excited joy is hard work.

"I'll definitely have to remember that. They'll come in handy."

"And if you do get stuck they can go fetch help." She pointed out rather logically. "They can generally avoid most things in existence when they want to."

She chuckles.

"They're smart buggers, aren't they?"

"More so than most patrons they run into." Rachel admitted with a warm laugh. "Which really is a sad thing."

[numbered_doctor]

"Hey," she protests mildly. "I thank them, and I don't talk to them like they're simple. That counts for something, right?"

"I didn't say all, Remy. I just know for a fact they read from the library when they're off shift. Tends to lead to quite interesting thoughts."

She swings her legs once again, looking down at the people beneath her, even spotting a few of said waitrats.

"Good for them, having something more to do that look after us."

"No one does a job every hour of the day." Rachel chuckled. "Everyone has hobbies and chores outside of work." Well, mostly. some people lived and breathed their jobs, but that didn't mean everyone had to!

"Well, yes, I know that," she quips dryly, throwing Rachel a grin. "I just never really thought about what they did on their time off."

"A bunch of things." Rachel chuckled. "They're just people like us when they're not working." She paused a moment, thinking and scanning, then sighed. "Okay, maybe not like me, but you get the idea anyway."

"I do," Remy says with a laugh of her own. "And don't worry, I realized a long time ago, not to include you in my generalizations."

"I think I should feel flattered." Rachel laughed, looking at her friend. "After all, who wants to be normal?"

[numbered_doctor]

She scoffs, and Rachel gets another bright smile, despite her earlier mood.

"Normal is overrated."

"Incredibly." The grin really belied the inner wince. She'd wanted it, a lot, once. Ah, youth.

"How you feeling?" If time stopped on the other side of Remy's door while she was away, well, she'd need to brace herself and go take care of her dead friend now. The sooner the better for her mental state.

Remy's smile fades as she takes stock of herself, and that brightness about her does so as well, though not completely.

"Better, but still hurting," she admits softly. "Definitely not as bad as I was."

"That hurt won't go away any time soon." Rachel admitted, sliding an arm over the girl's shoulder. "But you should take care of things now, or else facing him, and your world again, will just become more painful."

[numbered_doctor]

"I know," she says with a sigh, leaning against her friend. "But it was good to be able to catch my breath here, I've had my breakdown, and it's time to deal with things."

She looks over at Rachel, and the woman receives a chaste peck on the cheek.

"Thanks for helping."

"It's what I'm here for Remy." Rachel ruffled the girl's hair and made as if to push her off the rafter. "Breathers, breaks, and the bandaging in between."

She chuckles softly, half-heartedly pushing away at the hand.

"You always have been," she says warmly. "And you're awesome at it."

"Practice" she admitted easily, finally pushing Remy off the rafter entirely. There was teke to catch her before the floor!

There's a startled shout as Remy gets shoved off of the rafter, along with a choice word or two as she falls.

Once she's on solid ground, she brushes herself off shakily, but there's a bit of a smile on her face.

"Brat," she quips.
