Not Exactly A Good Day

It's been a while since she's been in the Bar. Between very long hours at work, and House running the team ragged, she hasn't even had time to think about Milliways, let alone come here.

Today is different, though. Milliways has usually refrained from pulling the young doctor in, since she had found a stable door, but now, she's stumbling in, almost unseeingly, and it takes her a moment to realize where she is.

Remy's certainly seen better days, hair a mess, red-rimmed eyes, and, oh yes, did we mention the blood? Though that's not exactly on her mind at the moment, as she's just noticed her lack of door and has turned to pound on the bare expanse of wall, leaving bloody prints as she hurls insults and generally screams at it.

The young doctor absolutely beams at that, shining bright, if Rachel is looking.

"Promise?"

"Sure" It wasn't a big thing really.

[numbered_doctor]

The smile fades just a touch.

"Is it weird that I'm excited over it?"

[futures_of_ash]

"Not in the least. I run into people who really really like it sometimes." Mainly adrenaline junkies.

[numbered_doctor]

"I'm afraid I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Fair warning that you'll probably get asked multiple times."

"Duly noted. If it gets to dangerous levels I'll cut you off." Simple as that right? Right!

[numbered_doctor]

A grin.

"It's not that bad, I don't think."

Says the recovering party girl.

"Sure, but often when losing one addiction..." she trailed off and flicked her fingers. Addictive personalities were addictive personalities? "Anyway...rafters. Sometimes you can find interesting things up here."

[numbered_doctor]

Remy lays the talk of addictions to rest and swings her legs absently once again.

"Yeah? What's the oddest thing you've found?"

"Crawlspace into a butterfly garden." Rachel admitted after a moment of thought. "From several different planets."

[numbered_doctor]

Eyebrows raise, and Remy whistles low at this.

"Really? That's pretty awesome."

[futures_of_ash]

"A lot awesome actually, and not nearly as dirty as finding the mud monsters in the caverns below the bar."

[numbered_doctor]

Remy grins.

"Obviously, I haven't been exploring around the Bar enough."

[futures_of_ash]

"people rarely do." She mused, tilting her head to the side. "They don't seem to ever think that there's things beyond the bar, rooms, and library. The Bar's alive though, and the bar building is a living, changing thing."

[numbered_doctor]

She smiles wryly. "Don't forget the infirmary, too."

Beat.

"I didn't get told these things when I found my way here. Just got told the three rules and that's about it."

[futures_of_ash]

"No one gets told that really I think. It's the rules that people think are important." Rachel admitted. "But I can talk to Bar, and feel the building shifting...so I go out of my way to look at things that other people ignore."

[numbered_doctor]

"Maybe I should do some more poking around myself," she says, looking down at the Bar and it's patrons. "See what I can find."

[futures_of_ash]

"Curiosity is an incredibly important trait. Never lose it." Rachel grinned, fire playing in her eyes. "And there's always something interesting to find, even if it's just an odd adventure."

[numbered_doctor]

Remy smiles brightly at her friend, nudging her gently with her shoulder.

"I promise I'll try to hold onto my curiosity for as long as I can. You have more fun that way."

"A great deal more fun." Rachel assured. "And it keeps some of the shadows in a person's heart from growing too strong." Curiosity, like love, tended to burn too brightly to foster darkness. And unlike love it rarely tended to fester and turn.

With a not!sibling like Rachel, it's probably going to be very hard to lose sight of her curiosity.

"That's definitely a good thing to know. I'm not exactly eager to see what it's like to be in that state of mind."

For a moment there was shadow behind the emerald in Rachel's eyes. just the briefest flash as the telepath thought on what she had changed in Remy. Not something she should have done perhaps, Remy had had no true choice...but she was happier. Much happier. Therein lie evil though? Assuming she knew best? She would have to be more vigilant. "It isn't a kind one. Generally self destructive and dark. It can swallow people if they let it."

Remy's jaw tightens for just a moment, and Remy leans against her friend with a sigh.

"Right. I had forgotten."

They had both seen her mother go through that darkness, and her father afterwards.

"So we stay curious and use it as a shield against darker things." She reached out to poke Remy's nose. "And I use it as a distraction sometimes too. I guess it's a multi-purpose tool."

[numbered_doctor]

Remy grins a little.

"An awesome, multi-purpose tool," she quips, poking back. "And distractions are always good."
